Where Confidence Takes Center Stage!

IP DRAMA

Years 6-8

Years 3-5

Program Overview

ip Drama offers an engaging, structured drama program designed to develop confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Each term spans 8-10 weeks, with classes tailored to children in Years 3-5 and Years 6-8. Every class runs for one hour and is carefully crafted to help young performers explore the fundamentals of acting and self-expression.

Each session follows a four-part structure:

  • Warm-Up  – Students participate in fun, high-energy games that help them release energy, improve focus, and prepare for the day's activities.

  • Skill Building – Each week, students focus on a different drama skill, from vocal projection to character development and improvisation.

  • Activity/Improvisation – Through structured activities or group improvisation, students apply and reinforce the skills they've learned, enhancing creativity and adaptability.

  • Reflection/Cool Down – Students discuss what they’ve learned and reflect on their experience, encouraging self-expression and mutual support.

The term culminates in a performance piece, giving students a chance to showcase their progress and perform for family and friends. Each performance focuses on themes relevant to their age group.

Why Choose ip Drama?

At ip Drama, we’re more than just an after-school activity—we’re a space where children can grow in confidence, discover their voice, and make lasting friendships.

We offer:

1. Passionate Instructors

  • Led by Isabelle and Phillippa Ince, ip Drama brings professional experience and a deep love of drama to every session. Both Isabelle and Phillippa have a long history of acting and public speaking and are dedicated to sharing their passion with young people. Their wealth of experience working with children ensures that each student feels supported, inspired, and valued.

2. Focus on Confidence and Self-Expression

  • IPDrama is specifically designed to build self-confidence in a fun and welcoming environment. Through engaging activities like improvisation and character work, students learn how to express themselves fully, handle public speaking with ease, and embrace their unique talents. The skills they gain go beyond the stage, empowering them in school and social settings as well.

3. Creative, Inclusive Curriculum

  • Our program is thoughtfully structured to appeal to each age group’s developmental needs. Younger children engage in playful, fairy-tale-based stories that spark imagination and laughter, while older students tackle relatable scenarios that foster empathy and personal reflection. Every class is a mix of fun, focus, and creative exploration, offering students a complete drama experience in a positive, inclusive atmosphere.

4. Emphasis on Teamwork and Empathy

  • Drama is all about collaboration, and we emphasise ensemble work to help children learn the value of teamwork. From paired games to group scenes, our program teaches students to listen, support, and respect one another. These lessons in empathy and cooperation are skills they’ll carry throughout life.

5. A Safe, Nurturing Environment

  • At ip Drama, we prioritize the safety and well-being of every child. Current Working with Children Checks and comprehensive insurance mean that you can be sure your child is in safe hands. Our small group sizes ensure that each child receives individual attention, creating a supportive environment where every student feels comfortable taking creative risks.

6. Personalised Performances with Meaningful Themes

  • Each term ends with a performance that brings together everything the children have learned, allowing them to proudly showcase their achievements. Younger classes present humorous, lighthearted tales that delight audiences, while older students explore thought-provoking themes, like the impact of small choices on the future. These performances give students a sense of accomplishment and a chance to perform in front of loved ones, fostering pride and joy in their hard work.

7. Affordable, Quality Education

  • We believe in making quality drama education accessible, offering classes at an affordable rate of $15 per week, billed termly. Parents can trust that their investment in ip Drama is an investment in their child’s personal growth, communication skills, and confidence.

Skills Developed Across the Term

Throughout the term, students will develop a range of valuable skills that go beyond acting, including:

  • Confidence: Through public speaking exercises and solo performances, students learn to express themselves boldly and confidently.

  • Voice & Projection: Students practice vocal exercises to understand projection, control, and tone, essential for stage presence.

  • Creativity & Improvisation: With games and spontaneous role-play, children learn to think on their feet and embrace imaginative scenarios.

  • Characterization & Emotion: By exploring different characters, facial expressions, and body language, students gain insights into empathy and self-awareness.

  • Teamwork & Empathy: Ensemble work, paired games, and group scenes emphasise the importance of collaboration, active listening, and supporting each other.

  • Environmental & Social Responsibility (Years 6-8 only): Older students reflect on the impact of their actions, the ripple effect of small choices on the future.

Each week builds on previous skills, allowing students to gain confidence in their abilities and work together to create a cohesive, memorable performance.
